The city of San Francisco has passed an ordinance creating a permanent bank of paid time for employees to use for public health emergencies.
Starting on October 1, 2022, and then at the start of each new year (January 1), private employers with more than 100 employees worldwide must provide up to 80 hours of paid Public Health Emergency Leave per year to each employee. The leave applies to all employees working within the City and County of San Francisco for covered employers.
