Conditional field styles in OrgPlus

The field style determines how a field or block should be highlighted or emphasized in a box. You can set a default style and change the style based on one or more conditions.  For example, you could highlight a field red if the value exceeds a certain threshold, or falls within a specific range of values.

Note: The directions on this page describe how to work with conditions for fields. If you are adding a condition to a block, or another box element, begin with step 3 in “To add a condition” below.

To add a condition:

1.      In the Conditions section of a Field Properties Panel, click the Add Condition button to open the Condition window.

2.      Enter a name for the new condition that describes the condition (e.g. “High Salary”).

3.      Use the Apply Field Style dropdown menu to select the style applied to the field when the condition is true.

4.      Define the rules for the condition as follows:

  • Define the first rule by selecting from the Field Name and Comparison drop-down lists. Then enter the comparison string in the Contents field.

Notes: Use comparisons ending in (field) if you want to compare the field with the value of another field in the same record, instead of entering a specific value yourself.

The comparison option is empty checks for both NULL and empty strings.

  • Define any additional rules in the second and subsequent lines by clicking +. If a filter includes more than one rule, choose any to apply the filter if one or more of the rules are true, and all to apply the filter only if all the rules are true.
  • To add a rule with multiple conditions, click Add Group.

5.      When you have added all the rules needed for the condition, click OK.

6.      Repeat steps 1-5 for each additional condition.

To delete a condition:

1.      In the Conditions section of the Field Properties Panel, click the Delete button for each condition you want to remove.

To rename a condition:

1.      In the Conditions section of the Field Properties Panel, click the Edit Condition button for the condition you want to rename.

2.      Type the new name in the text box.

To edit a condition:

1.      In the Conditions section of the Field Properties Panel, click the Edit Condition button for the condition you want to edit.

3.      In the Edit Condition window, make the changes needed, as described above.
